Our Story

Why Sober Living?

SAFI Living Homes provides substance-free furnished housing within privately owned small multifamily residential communities in Denver and Lakewood for adults committed to maintaining their sobriety.

SAFI means clean in Swahili, reflecting the foundation of our homes: a clean home, a sober environment, clear expectations, personal responsibility and accountability.

Our housing model is intentionally simple:

Four Residents | Two Bedrooms | Two Beds per Bedroom | One Shared Home | Small Multifamily Community

Each resident has an individual furnished twin bed in a bedroom shared with one other resident. Residents share the full kitchen, living areas, bathroom, and in-suite laundry with their household. Utilities and high-speed Wi-Fi are included.

Focus on your recovery. We provide the furnished home and sober environment around it.

SAFI Living Homes grows from the same Kenyan hospitality, owner-operated approach, and furnished residential environments behind Kenyan Furnished Rentals LLC.

We intentionally operate small shared households, with clear expectations for personal space, household accountability, and sober community.

SHARED LIVING + COMMUNITY + ACCOUNTABILITY

SAFI's model extends beyond the individual residence.

Most of our residences are located within small, privately owned multifamily properties. This allows residents to live within four-person households while remaining connected to a broader sober residential community.

At our Lakewood property, three separate 2-bedroom residences come together within one small multifamily community. Residents maintain their own household routines while sharing the property with other SAFI residents committed to sober living.

Shared outdoor spaces, including the yard and barbecue area, provide opportunities to connect, relax, and spend time together beyond the individual residence.

This creates community and accountability at more than one level: within the shared bedroom, throughout the home, and across the property. Each resident has an individual bed and designated space for personal belongings within a shared bedroom.

Personal Space | Shared Responsibility | Sober Community

STRUCTURE + RESPONSIBILITY

SAFI is built around straightforward principles.

Sobriety matters. Residents live within a substance-free environment with clear expectations supporting the integrity of the sober community.

Personal responsibility matters. Residents are responsible for their daily living, personal recovery, designated personal space, household responsibilities, and conduct within the community.

Communication matters. Shared living depends on respectful, straightforward communication and appropriate handling of household and property matters.

The home matters. Cleanliness, property care, household stability, and respect for shared spaces are part of maintaining the residential environment.

Community matters. Connection and accountability extend beyond an individual bed or residence. Residents are part of a broader sober residential community while maintaining their own routines and personal space.

WHO SAFI LIVING HOMES IS FOR

SAFI provides structured, substance-free furnished housing for independent adults committed to maintaining their sobriety who are comfortable sharing a bedroom and participating responsibly in a four-person household.

Our recovery residences may serve:

SAFI is designed for residents who can manage their own daily living and personal recovery while participating responsibly in a sober residential community.

Residents are expected to maintain sobriety, follow residence requirements, participate responsibly in household upkeep, respect quiet hours and property boundaries, maintain their designated personal space in clean and sanitary condition, communicate appropriately about household matters, and respect the privacy and recovery environment of others.

A SUBSTANCE-FREE HOME

The integrity of the sober environment is a shared responsibility.

Residents are required to maintain a substance-free lifestyle and comply with SAFI's alcohol, drug, smoking, medication, screening, and other sober-living requirements.

Our residential standards are built around sobriety, accountability, communication, household boundaries, property care, and respect for the community.

Smoking & Vaping
Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the residence, garage, and all enclosed areas. Tobacco smoking is permitted only outdoors in the property’s designated smoking area, with proper disposal and in accordance with applicable law.

Alcohol, Cannabis & Other Substances
Residents may not use or possess alcohol, recreational cannabis, or illicit substances on or off the property.

SAFI provides recovery-oriented sober housing.

SAFI does not provide medical or behavioral-health treatment, therapy, personal care, transportation, or case management. Residents receiving treatment, counseling, peer support, medical care, case management, or other services receive those services separately through outside providers. Referring organizations, caseworkers, and outside service providers do not change SAFI’s residence requirements or make admission and household decisions on SAFI’s behalf.

KENYAN-INSPIRED DESIGN FOR HEALING

Our Kenyan-inspired spaces reflect warmth, cultural hospitality, gratitude, and home—quiet, grounded places where residents can settle in during an important chapter in their lives.

Rooted in Kenya, where our founder was born, this is not a theme. It is a design approach focused on creating environments that feel stable, welcoming, and deeply human.

Color and authentic Kenyan artwork—sourced directly from Kenya—are intentionally integrated throughout each home, helping create a warm, grounded residential environment.

As an owner-operated housing provider, our homes are personally designed and maintained with direct accountability, supporting everyday sober living without turning the residence itself into a treatment environment.

SAFI itself comes from the Swahili word for clean, connecting our Kenyan roots with the importance we place on clean homes, sobriety, clear expectations, and responsible residential living.

COLOR + CULTURAL INTENT

Our website colors are intentional and rooted in the Kenyan flag—reflecting the cultural foundation and principles behind our homes.

Black — people, mutual support, and human connection
Red — resilience, courage, and the strength required to move through difficult moments
Green — grounding, restoration, renewal, and continued growth
White — clarity, peace, cleanliness, and continuity

These principles are carried into our homes through color, artwork, household care, and the environments we work to maintain.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

SAFI Living Homes reflects the principles that guide our approach:

We provide sober living that brings together personal space, shared responsibility, and sober community within furnished residential homes.
